'Real Housewives' alum Jen Shah admits she 'was wrong' in first interview since prison release

Former "Real Housewives of Salt Lake City" star Jen Shah is taking responsibility in her first interview since her December release from federal prison.

"I was wrong," Shah toldPeople Magazine in an interviewreleased on Tuesday. "I made wrong decisions. I should have done things differently. I should have been more diligent. And I'm deeply remorseful and sorry for my actions and for my part. I take full responsibility."

Shah, 52, was released in December fromFederal Prison CampBryan in Texas, more than four years early from her 6½-year prison sentence in 2023. She served alongside other famous inmates,disgraced Theranos founder Elizabeth HolmesandGhislaine Maxwell.

The former reality star was arrested by the FBI in March 2021 —while cameras were rolling for the Bravo series — on charges in connection with allegedly running a nationwide telemarketing fraud scheme that preyed on the elderly.

While filming the show, Shah insisted on her innocence, saying "the only thing I'm guilty of is being Shah-mazing" in the opening credits for the show's second season.

In the weeks leading to her trial date, when her legal team received a trove of evidence from prosecutors, Shah told People Magazine that things changed.

"It was like a train hit," she said. "That was the first time I saw all of it — the communications, the interviews, the witnesses."

"I saw for the first time that there were people who were hurt. That there were actual victims as a result of this conspiracy," she added. "I had never seen anything with my own eyes. That changed things for me."

Shah pleaded guilty to wire fraud in connection with the scheme in 2022 and wassentenced to 78 months in federal prisonthe following year.

She served time in a minimum-security all-women's federal prison camp that housed inmates convicted of nonviolent offenses and white-collar crimes in dormitory-style quarters.

"When I walked in, it took my breath away," Shah said through tears. "You hear people say it's 'Camp Cupcake' — it's not. It's a prison. I just thought, 'This cannot be where I'm going to be every day.'"

Shah was also ordered in 2023 to forfeit $6,500,000 and dozens of luxury items as part of restitution. She told People she is now working to pay off her restitution.

"I'm sorry," she told People. "I'm accepting responsibility, and I've made it my mission to make sure that people are paid back."

The mother of two is among a long list of Bravo stars accused of criminality.

In 2014, "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Teresa Giudice and her husband, Joe Giudice, were sentenced to federal prison afterpleading guilty to fraud charges.

"Real Housewives of Potomac" star Karen Huger — who is known by fans as the "Grand Dame" — served a one-year sentence at a Maryland prison for drunk driving. She wasreleased from prisonin September.

Perhaps the most notorious crime committed by a Bravo star was committed by Tom Girardi, the husband of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Erika Jayne. Girardi wassentenced to seven years and three monthsin prison for embezzling millions of dollars from former clients. His victims included families of the 189 people who died in the 2018 Lion Air crash.

-Fabulous holiday weather:Again, the West is the big winner on Sunday, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures generally warmer than average for the first Sunday in April, without the recent blistering heat.

-Rain jacket will be needed: Unfortunately, rain, perhaps with a clap of thunder, is likely in the East as a cold front slices through. It will also be quite windy with the front. Any sunrise Easter services planned outdoors in the Southeast may have to be moved indoors.

-A winter jacket needed: Sunday will be chilly and windy in the Midwest, with highs only in the 40s in the Great Lakes. WASHINGTON (AP) —President Donald Trumpis not immune fromcivil claimsthat he incited a mob of his supporters to attack the Capitol on Jan, 6, 2021, a federal judgehas ruledin one of the last unresolved legal cases stemming from the riot.

U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta ruled Tuesday that Trump's remarks at his "Stop the Steal" rally, held on the Ellipse near the White House shortly before the siege began, "plausibly" were inciting words that are not protected by the First Amendment right to free speech.

The Republican president is not shielded from liability for much of his Jan. 6 conduct, including that speech and many of his social media posts that day, according to the judge. But Mehta said Trump cannot be held liable for his official acts that day, including his Rose Garden remarks during the riot and his interactions with Justice Department officials.

"President Trump has not shown that the Speech reasonably can be understood as falling within the outer perimeter of his Presidential duties," Mehta wrote. "The content of the Ellipse Speech confirms that it is not covered by official-acts immunity."

Not the first court ruling on presidential immunity

The decision is not the court's first ruling that Trump can be held liability for the violence at the Capitol and it is unlikely to be the last given the near-certainty of an appeal. But the 79-page ruling sets the stage for a possible civil trial in the same courthouse where Trump was charged with crimes for his Jan. 6 conduct, before his 2024 electionended the prosecution.

Mehta previously refused to dismiss the claims against Trump in a February 2022 ruling that Trump was not entitled to presidential immunity from the claims brought by Democratic members of Congress and law enforcement officers who guarded the Capitol on Jan. 6. In that decision, Mehta also concluded that Trump's words during his rally speech plausibly amounted to incitement and were not protected by the First Amendment.

The case returned to Mehta after an appeals court ruling upheld his 2022 decision. He said Tuesday's ruling on immunity falls under a more "rigorous" legal standard at this later stage in the litigation.

Mehta, who was nominated by Democratic President Barack Obama, said his latest decision is not a "final pronouncement on immunity for any particular act."

"President Trump remains free to reassert official-acts immunity as a defense at trial. But the burden will remain his and will be subject to a higher standard of proof," the judge wrote.

Official capacity vs. office-seeker

Trump spoke to a crowd of his supporters at the rally before the mob's attack disrupted the joint session of Congress for certifying Democrat Joe Biden's 2020 electoral victory over Trump. Trump closed out his speech by saying, "We fight. We fight like hell and if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore."

Trump's lawyers arguedthat Trump's conduct on Jan. 6 meets the threshold for presidential immunity.

The plaintiffscontended that Trump cannot prove he was acting entirely in his official capacity rather than as an office-seeking private individual. They also said the Supreme Court has held that office-seeking conduct falls outside the scope of presidential immunity.

Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., who at that time led the House Homeland Security Committee, sued Trump, Trump's personal attorney Rudolph Giuliani and members of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers extremist groups over the Jan. 6 riot. Other Democratic members of Congress later joined the litigation, which was consolidated with the officers' claims.

'Victory for the rule of law'

The civil claims survived Trump's sweeping act of clemency on the first day of his second term, when he pardoned, commuted prison sentences and ordered the dismissal of all 1,500-plus criminal cases stemming from the Capitol siege. More than 100 police officers were injured while defending the Capitol from rioters.

The plaintiffs' legal team includes attorneys from the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. Damon Hewitt, the group's president and executive director, praised the ruling as a "monumental victory for the rule of law, affirming that no one, including the president of the United States, is above it."

"The court rightly recognizes that President Trump's actions leading to the January 6 insurrection fell outside the scope of presidential duties," Hewitt said in a statement. "This ruling is an important step toward accountability for the violent attack on the Capitol and our democracy."

STOCKHOLM (AP) — Sweden's prime minister said Wednesday that his center-right party would allow a rival with far-right roots to enter the government if the country's election this year produces a right-wing majority, taking a further decisive step to bring it into the political mainstream.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has run Sweden since 2022 at the helm of a three-party center-right coalition thatrelies on supportfrom the Sweden Democrats for a parliamentary majority but doesn't give it seats in the Cabinet.

The Sweden Democrats were founded in the 1980s by people who had been active in right-wing extremist groups, including neo-Nazis. They toned down their rhetoric and expelled openly racist members under Jimmie Åkesson, who has led them since 2005.

He oversaw their growth from a marginal movement to Sweden's second-biggest party, with 20.5% of the vote inthe 2022 election— ahead of all its rivals on the right, including Kristersson's conservative Moderate Party. The party has moved toward the mainstream but retains a hard line on immigration. Its rise echoes that of parties on the populist right in many other European countries.

As a Sept. 13 parliamentary election approaches, center-right parties have been reconsidering their reluctance to bring the Sweden Democrats into government directly. Last month, the Liberals, a junior partner in the government, opened up to accepting them in a future Cabinet.

Kristersson cited that "courageous decision" as a game-changer as he and Åkesson held a joint news conference Wednesday to announce that the prime minister's Moderates would allow the Sweden Democrats into a future government, Swedish news agency TT reported.

Jenn Todryk is opening up about her decision to walk away from her HGTV show.

On her Instagram Stories, the home reno guru, 37, revealed why she "walked away" fromNo Demo Reno, which aired on HGTV for three seasons from 2021 to 2023. On the series, Todryk worked with clients to "create beautiful renovations with no demolition required," per the network.

In the March post, which was captured byEntertainmentNow.com, Todryk shared a throwback photo of a camera crew filming her as she held up paint samples and one of her daughters clung to her legs on the floor. "I do think I chose to walk away at the perfect time," she wrote. "I didn't want my kids to spend their childhood on a 'set,' I didn't want their home and safe space to feel like a set or be at home while I was away."

"I see pictures like this and think, what a cool part of my story and not wishing it was my only story and for that I am SO grateful!" the mom of three continued.

Todryk further opened up about the show's stressful filming conditions in anepisode of herYou, Me & Mikepodcastreleased on March 4. During the show, which she hosts with her husband, Mike Todryk, she hinted at how unhappy she was with the way she was portrayed on the show.

"No one understands until your entire character, integrity and image as a person is in the hands of someone else," Jenn said. "And a rough edit can literally destroy [you] nowadays."

Mike added that it was difficult for Jenn to work with different production teams from one season to the next, and said that would have to change if the show were to return.

"You would have new people, like, the second season wasn't the same editing team," Mike said while speaking to Jenn. "I think, you know, if you choose to keep going eventually, if you had the same consistency, it probably would have created a lot more trust."

The sentiment was echoed what Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jacksontold PEOPLE in October 2025after their series,Married to Real Estate, was canceled by HGTV. The married hosts went through production changes during their final season and, as a result, there was a noticeable shift behind the scenes, including dark weeks.

Those delays eventually led to season 4 taking "almost double the amount of time" to complete. "For us, this is our business and our reputation," Sherrod said at the time.

AlthoughtNo Demo Renohas been off the air for three years, Todryk says returning to the network is not out of the question.

"I am super grateful that I have a really awesome relationship with HGTV. I know that the door is open so whenever I want to make content, I can. That's something I'm really grateful for," Todryk toldTV Insiderin March 2025.

She added, "But life is so busy right now, I'm just trying to survive with all the home life stuff now. But HGTV is great and I really have loved working with them."

Nevada lithium mine clears major hurdle despite conservationists' worries for rare wildflower

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A federal judge in Nevada has ruled against conservationists who wanted to stop a lithium-boron mine they said would harm anendangered wildflower.

The ruling marks a major legal victory for the 11-square-mile (28.49 square-kilometer) Rhyolite Ridge Lithium/Boron Mine Project in Esmeralda County, located between Reno and Las Vegas. The land holds the largest lithium and boron deposit in the world outside of Turkey, said Bernard Rowe, managing director of Ioneer, the Australia-based company behind the project.

U.S. District Judge Cristina Silva ruled Friday that the federal government properly approved the project and sufficiently examined the impacts the project will have on the rare wildflower called Tiehm's buckwheat, whose entire population grows within 10 acres (4.05 hectares) of land in the project area. Environmental groups behind the lawsuit say they may appeal.

Lithium is an essential component of electric vehicle batteries. Rhyolite Ridge would beNevada's third lithium mine, and one of few mines that will process the materials on site, Rowe said.

"Rhyolite Ridge will create hundreds of new American jobs, reduce reliance on foreign materials and processing, and provide a domestic source of two critical minerals," Chad Yeftich, vice president of corporate development and external affairs at Ioneer, said in a statement.

Growing US manufacturing

Ioneer wants construction to start by the end of this year and production in 2029, though it is still looking for a financial partner after a major investor pulled out last year. Sibanye Stillwater said the project did not make financial sense. In January 2025, the Department of Energy finalized a nearly $1 billion loan for the project.

The $2 billion mine would have a life span of over 77 years and would produce enough lithium carbonate for around 400,000 electric vehicles per year, Rowe said. It will also produce boric acid, which is used in pest control, flame retardant, and medical and personal care.

Rhyolite Ridge wasfirst approved under the Biden administrationas an part of the former president's clean energy agenda. The Trump administration has alsosupported lithium projects in Nevadaas a way to bolster US manufacturing of critical minerals. The Interior Department declined to comment.

Protecting the wildflower

The Center for Biological Diversity, which haslong fought to protectthe wildflower and successfully pushed for its endangered species designation in 2022, is not finished in its fight, Great Basin Director Patrick Donnelly said.

His organization is considering appealing the ruling to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, arguing that the case could have implications for other species and protected habitats on the Endangered Species Act.

"This can seem like a little remote flower in the middle of nowhere. But if we lose on Tiehm's buckwheat, you know, what else are we facing with the whittling away of the Endangered Species Act?" Donnelly said.

Tiehm's buckwheat is a wildflower a couple inches tall that grows in an area the size of seven football fields in the Silver Peak Range. In the spring, the plant produces green leaves and yellow flowers that look like pom-poms. When it blooms, it is the epicenter of a vibrant pollinator community, Donnelly said.

Silva, a Biden-nominated judge, found Ioneer's mitigation efforts, which include fencing around the habitat and buffer zones between the mining activities and the buckwheat, were sufficient for the purposes of the Endangered Species Act. Silva wrote that of the buckwheat's 1.4 square mile (3.63 square kilometers) of critical habitat, it will lose 4.9% due to the project.

Donnelly maintains the mining project will increase the risk of the wildflower going extinct, which would affect the ecosystem's biodiversity. He cast doubt that fencing around the flower's habitat will protect it.

"There's been this kind of death by a thousand cuts for Tiehm's buckwheat," Donnelly said, adding that if it were to move forward, it would be the "death blow" for the wildflower.

Eddie Cibrianmade a surprise appearance in the newest episode ofHigh Potential— but did everyone catch his scenes?

During the Tuesday, March 31, episode of the hit ABC series, Cibrianhad a cameo as the mayorof Los Angeles. He originally resisted having Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) on the case but eventually shared evidence with her to help with the investigation.

According to the synopsis, "Wagner joins Morgan and the team on a hunt for the crew behind a series of heists ripping through elite private vaults." They then "uncover a far more dangerous endgame a looming cyberattack that could cripple Los Angeles' core infrastructure."

The police procedural, which premiered in September 2024,follows a high-potential intellectual— Morgan — who teams up with the LAPD to help solve murders. She gets paired up with a police officer, who is initially skeptical about Morgan's involvement with the Major Crimes unit but ultimately starts to rely on her.

Season 2 picked up with the confirmation that Morgan's ex Roman was still alive after going missing for more than a decade. The only information Morgan — and all ofUs— have is that her ex worked as an FBI informant and doesn't trust the LAPD.

"It's a pretty bumpy ride. We're going to start unpacking some pretty intense things with Morgan, as it relates to all things Roman. There are all kinds of trials and tribulations that are going to happen with the kids at home," showrunner Todd Harthan teased to Us Weekly at the time. "It's just going to get messy and complicated — hopefully in all the best ways so that the audience stays on the edge of their seats."

He continued: "Our job now as we get to the back half of the second season is to fill in some of the big blanks and progress some of the relationships. You're going to see some intense things happen between Steve Howey's character and Captain Wagner really starts to bloom in the back half. That causes some good soapy messes on multiple fronts. It's just our normal MO of just trying to mix things up and keep the audience engaged and keep them guessing."

Harthan also expressed excitementat more guest stars.

"One of the wonderful things about this particular season is now that the show is doing really well, the choices we've had for casting have been incredible," he shared. "In the back half, you're going to see some really exciting guest stars."

Harthan concluded: "We have this wonderful main cast and we're trying to recruit — just like with Steve Howey. These actors have been just incredible. They can come into our show and hang with our wonderful cast and just add their own flavor to our world. It's been exciting and you'll see there's some really cool people popping in."

High Potentialreturns to ABC Tuesday, January 6, at 9 p.m. ET. The show is streaming on Hulu.

“Brady Bunch” star Mike Lookinland says he went 'off the rails' after the show ended

Mike Lookinlandneeded a break after playing youngest brother Bobby on five seasons of the squeaky clean family sitcomThe Brady Bunch. And he took it.

"I lived my childhood in my 20s, because I couldn't when I was a child," Lookinland said Monday onThe Real Brady Brospodcast. "And in my 20s, I had a car and money and freedom. I was fully off the rails."

The actor was all of eight when the sitcom premiered on ABC in 1969. When it ended five seasons and five years later, he was just beginning his teenage years.

"I'm just thankful that not every man, woman, and child had a high-def camera in their pocket when I was 25, like they do now," Lookinland said, "because it would have ruined my life."

Christopher Knight, who portrayed middle brother Peter, said that their TV parents — actors Robert Reed, who played Mike, and Florence Henderson, the actress behind Carol — were a deterrent to the cast in behaving badly.

'We didn't wanna disappoint Florence and Bob," he said. "I mean, that was the beginning of it. It's like there's certain people that you just don't wanna disappoint. I think that was stronger with me with those two than it was my own parents."

And yet at least some bad behavior has come to light in the more than 50 years since the first incarnation of the Bradys went off the air. For instance, actress Maureen McCormick, who played elder sister Marcia, infamously wrote about struggling with drug addiction and an eating disorder in the years after the show.

Lookinland and many of his costars were part of the show's many reunion projects, including the psychedelicBrady Bunch Variety Hour(1976-1977) andThe Bradysseries in the '90s. Other appearances, such as when he, Knight, and Barry Williams, who played eldest brother Greg, were onThe Masked Singerin 2022, have been rare.

Lookinland married Kelly Wermuth in 1987, and the couple shares two children. He struggled with alcoholism, but said in 2013 that hehad gotten sober.

He now leads a small business that makes decorative countertops, fireplaces, benches, and other concrete items.

Passengers stranded in moving traffic after robotaxi outage in China's Wuhan

BEIJING (AP) — Somerobotaxipassengers were left stranded in the middle of fast-moving traffic in a major Chinese city after theirdriverless vehiclesstopped running, according to police and media reports on Wednesday.

A preliminary investigation indicates more than 100 robotaxis came to a halt because of a "system malfunction," police in the city of Wuhan said in a statement, without elaborating. No injuries were reported.

One passenger told Chinese media that their robotaxi stopped after turning a corner. An instruction on a screen read: "Driving system malfunction. Staff are expected to arrive in 5 minutes." After no one showed up, the passenger pushed an SOS button and was told that staff were on their way. The car door could be opened, so the passenger got out on their own.

It is the first time a mass shutdown of robotaxis has been reported in China. In December, many of Waymo's self-driving carscame to a stopin San Francisco because of a power outage.

The taxis in Wuhan are operated by Baidu, a major Chinese internet and AI company that is expanding itsApollo Go robotaxibusiness to overseas locations in Europe and the Mideast.

Baidu did not have any immediate comment.

Police said reports that taxis were coming to a halt started coming in around 9 p.m., while media reports said multiple people were rescued.

While some passengers were able to exit their taxis on their own, others were afraid to get out because their vehicle had stopped in the middle lane of a ring road with other vehicles passing on both sides, the reports said. Ring roads are elevated roads without traffic lights designed to move traffic quickly in urban areas.

Baidu operates hundreds of robotaxis in Wuhan, which hosted an early pilot project for the company.

The company, which operates more than 1,000 robotaxis, mostly in China, started a service in Abu Dhabi and Dubai this year and is working with partners to launchservice in Britainand Switzerland.

Indonesia to deport Scottish crime boss wanted by Spain on murder and drug trafficking charges

DENPASAR, Indonesia (AP) — AScottish crime bossis to be deported to Spain Wednesday after he was arrested on the Indonesian resort island of Bali in connection with large-scale drug trafficking and money laundering, authorities said.

Authorities described the 45-year-old, identified as Steven Lyons, as a senior figure in an international crime syndicate who had spent months on the run.

He was detained on Saturday when he arrived at Bali's Ngurah Rai international airport from Singapore, Indonesia's immigration and police authorities said.

The immigration system had flagged Lyons as the subject of an Interpol Red Notice issued at Spain's request. A Red Notice is an alert issued by Interpol at the request of a member country for police worldwide to arrest a suspect for extradition.

Lyons, who is wanted in Spain and the United Kingdom, will be flown to Spain via Doha on Wednesday evening, said Bugie Kurniawan of Bali's immigration office.

The alleged leader of the Lyons crime family, based in Scotland, was handed over to Spain's Civil Guard officers at Ngurah Rai airport ahead of his extradition to Madrid, where prosecutors are seeking to try him on charges in connection with organized crime, drug trafficking and money laundering, Kurniawan said.

Lyons has been on Spain's wanted list for about two years, following a murder there in 2024. Bali Police Chief Daniel Adityajaya said the arrest was part of a joint investigation involving Spanish and Scottish police.

According to Untung Widiyatmoko who heads Indonesia's branch of Interpol, Lyons is alleged to have led a transnational criminal network operating out of Cumbernauld, Scotland, and controlled narcotics trafficking routes from Spain to the U.K. His organized crime ring is suspected of using shell companies for money laundering in Europe and the Middle East — including in Spain, Scotland, England, Dubai, Qatar, Bahrain and Turkey.

Widiyatmoko said a day before Lyons' arrest in Bali, police in Scotland and Spain carried out raids in connection with the case, with the help of Europol, a European Union law enforcement cooperation hub. Several people were arrested, while others were detained in Turkey, the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates.

Scottish media have reported that Lyons survived a 2006 shooting in Glasgow that killed his cousin and later moved to Spain before settling in Dubai, in the UAE. Last May, his brother and an associate were shot and killed in a suspected gangland shooting at a beachfront bar in Fuengirola, southern Spain.
