US FDA to curtail use of primate testing in drug trials, FT reports

Dec 2 (Reuters) ​- The ‌U.S. Food ‌and Drug Administration said it would stop requiring pharmaceutical ⁠companies ‌to use lab monkeys for ‍some safety studies, the Financial Times ​reported on Tuesday,

Toxicity ‌testing on primates that can last up to six months can now ⁠be reduced ​or eliminated,​ the paper said.

Reuters could not ‍immediately ⁠verify the report.
