There's more to life than racing forF1world title champMax Verstappen, specifically his family, including his young daughter,Lily.
The professional race car driver welcomed his daughter with longtime girlfriend, model and media relations professionalKelly Piquet, in April 2025.
Fatherhood isn't new for Verstappen, as he has served as a stepfather to Piquet's daughter,Penelope, whom Piquet shares with her ex, former Formula 1 racerDaniil Kvyat.
"I'm kind of like a bonus dad already," Verstappen toldESPNin May 2025, referring to Penelope, whom he's known since she was 1 year old. "That helps a lot already to prepare for your own child."
Verstappen and Piquet first announced that they wereexpanding their familyprior to the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the closing event of Verstappen's fourth world title season.
"I've worked my whole life to be successful in racing, and while that's very important to me, at the end of the day, it doesn't define real happiness", he toldRed Bullin 2025. "True happiness comes from your friends and your family and your loved ones."

Verstappen and Piquet welcomed their daughter Lily in April 2025, just days before Verstappen competed in the Miami Grand Prix.
The couple shared the news of their daughter's arrival on social media,writing, "Welcome to the world, sweet Lily," alongside photos of their newborn. "Our hearts are fuller than ever - you are our greatest gift. We love you so much," they concluded.
While doing press for the race, he shared that he got some special bonding time with his newborn before flying to Florida.
"Luckily, I got to spend a few days with them once she was born," he told ESPN. "It's been great. You never really know what to expect but it's been very enjoyable and very special."
She doesn't have a middle name

While speaking with Viaplay in May 2025, Verstappen revealed how he and Piquet landed on their daughter's moniker.
"Well, it took quite a while," Verstappen told the outlet. "The first few months we were really like, 'Yeah, what are we actually going to call her?' No idea," he added. "And at some point, I don't know, it just sounded nice. And short, with the last name too. No middle name, just Lily. We both agreed. So it was all good."
She has a half-sister

When Lily was born, she joined a 5-year-old Penelope from Piquet's previous relationship. Lily's arrival came much to the delight of her half-sister.
"She had been looking forward to it for a long time. So it's all nice to see," Verstappen toldDutch media outletsin May 2025.
Piquet has also opened up about being a mom to two daughters and the new family dynamic.
Sharing a carousel of images of the girls together donning pink ensembles, Piquet began herJune 2025 post, "Mom of two angels."
"From the beginning, I dreamed of a moment when the two of them would be side by side — one coming into the world, the other welcoming her with love," she continued in Portuguese.
She's growing up in Monaco

Lily is being raised by Verstappen and Piquet in Monaco. Verstappen — who owns an apartment in Monte Carlo — has opened up about life off the track in one of the most expensive real estate markets in the world.
"The season is very demanding and they've added more locations and races over the years," Verstappen told Red Bull in 2025. "So, it's very important to find your own time, to try to rest up and spend time with your family and friends," he added.
"Freedom for me is just being at home and not having to worry about doing the next thing on my schedule," he continued. "And Monaco is the place I call home. It's where I can relax and do my own thing."
